Common questions
What should a salary slip include?
The company name, the employee's name, ID, designation and pay month, the days paid, each earning (basic, HRA, allowances), each deduction (PF, ESI, professional tax, income tax), and the net pay in figures and words. PAN, UAN and the last digits of the bank account are commonly added.
Is it compulsory to give employees a payslip?
Under the Code on Wages, employers must give employees a wage slip, and it can be electronic. Payslips are also what employees need for loans, visas and tax filing, so give one every month.
How is PF worked out on a payslip?
The employee's PF is 12% of basic pay. Many companies cap it at 12% of ₹15,000, which is ₹1,800 a month. Use "Fill from CTC" above to work it out with professional tax and TDS.
Does a payslip need a signature or stamp?
Not when it is computer-generated. The slip above says so at the bottom.
